Why did we name this apartment Whympers Lodge?

Edward Whymper was the first man to ascend the Matterhorn. On July 14th 1865 Whymper, an artist, wood engraver and avid climber, led a team of six to the summit of the Matterhorn. Panorama Ski Lodge was built in 2015, 150 years after the first ascent of the Matterhorn. We honour Edward Whymper by naming this beautiful Ski Lodge after him.

Why did we name this apartment Marmot Lodge? 

Marmots are the clever, cuddly mammals often found around the mountains of Zermatt. They like to settle close to civilian life seeking safety from the wilderness and hibernate for 6 months of the year from November. If you take the lift from Zermatt to Furi any time from April through to November watch carefully to see if you can spot them!

From the lounge you may access the balcony to fully enjoy the undisturbed views of the Matterhorn. 

Why did we name this apartment Cervinia Lodge? 

Cervinia is Zermatts neighbouring village just across the border in the Aosta Valley, Valtournenche, Italy. With 150km of its own piste Cervinia shares the total 360km of piste with Zermatt. If you purchase the International Ski pass you may take the Kleinmatterhorn lift up to Matterhorn Paradise and Ski down to the Italian mountain restaurants - but please take care to get the lift back to Zermatt before they close!

Edelweiss Lodge is one of the three two bedroomed apartments with one en-suite master bedroom, one standard double and a family bathroom. A large comfortable sofa bed can be found in the lounge. This apartment will comfortably accommodate up to 6 people.

Found on the first floor you enter the apartment to a generous hall which leads through to the open plan double aspect lounge and kitchen-diner. The master bedroom leads from the hall and enjoys a full en-suite with bath & shower and a balcony with open mountain and Matterhorn views. Leading off the generous living space is the warm and welcoming second bedroom, with floor to ceiling windows. From the open-plan lounge you may access two balconies to fully enjoy undisturbed views of the Matterhorn - however, it has to be noted that this is one of two lodges which offer a unique circular seating space in the corner of the lounge offering a panoramic view spanning 180 degrees from the Trockener Steg ski station, across to Schwarzsee, up to the Matterhorn and down above the rooftops to the valley beyond the village.  

Why did we name this apartment Edelweiss Lodge?

The Edelweiss is the infamous Swiss alpine flower, found in and around Zermatt. These hardy yet rare flowers are protected and must not be picked. Edelweiss grows in altitudes between 1,800 and 3,000 m and blossoms from July to September.

The Panorama Suite is the impressive two bedroomed penthouse apartment. 

Found on the top floor you are instantly impressed by the vaulted ceiling and generous space. A good sized hall leads through to the open plan double aspect lounge complete with comfortable sofa bed, cosy log fire and its fully fitted high specification kitchen-diner.

The master bedroom leads from the hall and enjoys a full en-suite with corner-bath and shower and balcony with open mountain and Matterhorn views. Here you may fall asleep watching the stars through the skylight above. Also leading off the generous hall is the warm and welcoming second bedroom, opposite which you will find the second bathroom. 

From the lounge, kitchen and master bedroom you may access spacious balconies where you will enjoy undisturbed views of the Matterhorn. 

Why did we call this The Panorama Suite?

As our largest and most opulent ski lodge we felt it only natural to name our penthouse suite The Panorama Suite.
